Mixed media playtime!

Mixed media was on the agenda today!  But first a big thank you to the wonderful students in last night’s class.  It is great to meet all the new people who are either new to my classes or crafting newbies. And of course it is always wonderful to see familiar faces again.

I believe I need to buy more paints to create different color palettes as greens and blues and yellows are getting a little repetitive!  I had another play around with Decoart acrylic paints and some stamps.

I was playing with different brush strokes to see what would happen.  The circles were made with a fan brush and loading with 2-3 different colors.  I also tossed in some distress crayons to see how they would work on top of acrylic paints…not bad and the smearing effect was nice.

The silhouette stamps are a set from Impression Obsession and were stamped with Black Stazon.  The surface, painted with acrylic paints, wasn’t smooth and the impression the stamp left was less than perfect.  But it gave me enough of an outline, that I just went in with a small round brush and painted in the silhouette with black paint.  One of the tricks I learn in Tracy’s class was worth it’s weight in gold and has made a huge difference working with wet mediums.  Use matte medium on the back side of the paper, and this well help keep the paper from warping!!  Love love love that tip and it works perfectly every time!

That’s it for me on this Thursday!
