Getting my Mixed Media on
Mixed media was on tap in a class with Tracy Weinzapfel…how lucky was I?
Happy happy Friday to everyone! I hope you have some wonderful plans for the weekend.
I had a chance to get a little painty last night in a class where I actually got to be the student…loved every second of it. I loved being clueless (well almost clueless) and starting smack dab at the beginning of a learning process. Of course I had to practice what I preach to all my students, and of course, it is easier to say than to do. But I did manage to just to say the heck with it and see what I could come up with.
Tracy Weinzapfel was the instructor, and she was a hoot and not to mention knew what she was doing and oh so darn creative!! If you ever get a chance to take a class with Tracy, do it. You definitely won’t be disappointed.
This is the first card background I made. I need some practice and will have to fussy cut a little better next time!!
Here’s the second piece…definitely starting to get the hang of acrylics with some gesso, water and sprays. The coolest new product (well new to me) were the paint sprays from DecoArt. Dang those things are vibrant and the coverage is amazing. I actually played with some of these spray paints on a canvas bag…OMG did I save a gazillion hours (and gesso) prepping/coloring the background.
A big thanks to Tracy for coming to Colorado Springs with her amazing talent and making me go way outside my comfort zone…I’m almost liking paint on my hands…but not quite though!!
