Get your Mixed media on
Happy Saturday to everyone! The weather is a little to hot to be outside working, so I thought I’d pop in and post some cards I had done earlier this week. I took a mixed media card class with Tracy Weinzapfel last month and decided I should put some of that knowledge to use. Needless to say I’m hardly completely confident or competent in this area yet, but I’m sure with time and practice it will get a little more comfortable.
I played with the weathered wood medium from Decoarts and the effect of the weathered wood medium is so cool. The image is from a stamp set from Dare 2B Artsy called Always Blooming by Tracy. Stamped in Stazon and then painted with decoart paints. I kept telling myself stop reaching for your markers, they won’t work on this medium, you don’t need your markers. So I forced myself to be the student and be way uncomfortable!!
Up close look. Isn’t the weathered wood effect so cool?
Used weathered wood again and the stamp is from a Ranger set. You can see in the bottom right corner and upper left corner I tried to die cut, but the paper with all of the different mediums on it was not having it. So I thought well it makes some cool contrasting texture so I went with it..
Closer view of the weathered wood.
